The history of TAG Heuer
TAG Heuer was founded in 1860 by Edouard Heuer in St-Imier, Switzerland. TAG Heuer is one of the oldest watchmaking companies. In 1887, Heuer invented the oscillating pinion, which allowed for more precise and reliable chronographs. In the 1930s, Heuer began producing watches for the aviation industry.
In 1963, Heuer introduced Carrera chronographs, which quickly became iconic watches. The Carrera was worn by Steve McQueen in the movie Le Mans, and the Monaco was worn by James Bond in the movie Live and Let Die.
In 1985, TAG Group, a Swiss technology company, acquired Heuer. The company was renamed TAG Heuer, and it began to produce watches that combined Heuer's traditional watchmaking expertise with TAG Group's technological innovations.
In 1999, TAG Heuer was acquired by LVMH. Under LVMH's ownership, TAG Heuer has continued to produce high-quality watches and expand its product range.
